Guys, we just (3 months ago or so?) bought a fucking fast new server but since we are trying to host some own movies there is a next problem. As you might have noticed it takes (sometimes) a while before the hosted vids are ready buffering. The problem is shown in this image:
We have an unmetered 10 Mbps connection, which is just full! Getting a 100Mbps unmetered connection is another $250 a month. Thinking about doing it so you guys better join some sponsors!!!
edit: Just received a answer from my hoster. We need to change the server too. I cant get 100Mbps on this one. So I need to pay my technical guy to install all again on new server.
One question was, why do you want to host your own movies. I see more and more ads and popups on the free hosters. Next to that we experience downtime/upgrading time (for days) when we upload the movies and pics to the free hosters. To be more independent I like to host them myself.
edit2: Yep, we will get 100Mbps soon!

I’v no problem clicking on ads for sponsors or anything, as I visit this site daily.
But is there an actual need to host your own vids? The external hosting sites run fast and are reliable.
Before forking out the cash, think about why you are hosting the videos.

I hear people complaining about these hosted vids with firefox, i’ve never had any problem with the hosted vids apart from there being no time line a week or 2 ago, but now they buffer fast and theres a tiemline..when the vid did used to stop id just click play again and itd carry on..so i dnno!

whatboyswant.com has it set up so that “members” get speacial content, unlimited downloads, and the highest rank in the forums. maybe having sponsor-membership would be ideal.

You seem to have the overall answer already.
For paying members they get extras and firsts, of which you host. For non-paying viewers, they get the seconds hosted at free hosts. Perhaps consider placing some ads on the free hosters for paid memberships and benefits of.
Of course any upgrades you do should be based upon actual income from payed memberships and sponsors, and grow upon increase in such.
Lets keep in mind that those posting vids are providing you with content. And for your service I see no reason that you couldn’t earn a bit for your time, effort and service from the viewing membership.
All is good… just a matter of finding a balance that works for growth.

why dont you say fuck it and leave it… so what if the shits slow sometimes, especially in these economic hard times, why waste money… and fuck memberships, if that happens im never comming here again. i can go somewhere else and look at FREE porn.

Nice to see you putting some effort into this, all i can say is i hope you make a tidy profit from adds/afiliates.. Maybe instead of switching onto a NEW server you could just rent a 2nd (partially smaller) file server and just embed files from that into this site hosted on the first server? that way HTML will load faster regardless of the bandwidth usage on the file server— its a start anyway

I guess it’s noble of you to try to host your own vids, but your streaming client is kind of buggy right now. I prefer when you link to other folks, like Pornhost, where I can at least seek. Trying to skip ahead in your hosted videos tends to fuck ‘em up.
